EEW goes XXL for Veja Mate
Fabrication completed for the heaviest monopile ever produced
EEW has completed fabrication of the heaviest monopile ever produced with the 1,300 tonne tubular to be installed at the 402MW Veja Mate wind farm in the German North Sea.
The 82.2 metre long and 7.8 metre wide foundation will be handed over to Offshore WindForce for transport at the end of April.
The XXL monopile left EEW’s Rostock manufacturing facility yesterday (pictured).
EEW’s technical director Andreas Dietze said: “Without the confidence of our customer and the commitment of our staff the production of this giant monopile would not have been possible.
“I would like to express my deep felt gratitude to all those involved.”
A total of 40 of the 67 monopiles for the project have been completed with the full fabrication work scheduled for an end June finish.
