Enel lifts Kansas curtain
Construction on 400MW Cimarron Bend wind farm gets underway
Enel Green Power has kicked off construction at its 400MW Cimarron Bend wind farm in the US state of Kansas.
The Clark County project will be funded with $610m from the company’s own resources, the Italian developer said.
Two separate power purchase agreements have been lined up for the project, with 200MW going to Google and the remaining power bought by the Kansas City Board of Public Utilities.
Enel’s renewables chief Francesco Venturini said: “This project marks a major milestone for Enel, as not only will Cimarron Bend be the largest asset in our portfolio, but it also opens our renewable energy to new partners and uses.”
A spokesman declined to identify the project’s chosen turbine manufacturer.
