Nexans confirms Arkona gig
Hanover plant to supply 76km of cables for Eon’s 385MW project
Nexans Deutschland has confirmed that its Hanover plant is to supply 76km of cables for Eon’s 385MW Arkona offshore wind farm.
The deal, first revealed in subscriber-only newsletter reNEWS last week, will involve development of the internal cabling for the wind farm, which is due to be built between the Baltic Sea islands of Rügen and Bornholm.
The order includes 48km of three-phase cables with a 300mm² cross-section and, for the first time, 28km of cables with an 800mm² cross-section. It also includes the fittings and accessories needed for installation, Nexans said.
Delivery from the ferry port of Sassnitz, Rügen, is scheduled for the beginning of 2018.
The Arkona order is the first contract for submarine cables between Eon and Nexans Deutschland.
