ALE loads out Wikinger jacket
Navantia nearing completion of substation fabrication at Cadiz yard
Heavy lifting outfit ALE has completed the load-out of the jacket foundation for the offshore substation at Iberdrola’s 350MW Wikinger offshore wind farm, which will be located in the German Baltic Sea.
The 3000-tonne jacket (pictured) has been built at the Navantia shipyard at Cadiz in Spain.
The project's twin topside, which is also being built at the Spanish yard, is also nearing completion.
The foundations for the 70 Adwen 5MW turbines are currently being installed by Offshore WindForce, a joint venture between Boskalis and Volker Stevin International.
Navantia built 29 of the turbine's foundations, with the other 41 jackets fabricated by Bladt and EEW.
The wind farm is scheduled to come online next year.
