WaveSub wraps up tank test
Wave energy device due to be deployed at sea later this year
Marine Power Systems (MPS) has completed scaled tank testing of its WaveSub wave energy converter.
The tests took place at Plymouth University’s Coastal, Ocean and Sediment Transport laboratory, with the tank scale power-take-off systems having been developed in collaboration with experts from the University of Bath.
The tests were to help validate MPS’ computational simulations, and were also supported by two Plymouth University post-graduate students as part of their MSc projects.
WaveSub, which has been part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh government, is due for deployment at sea later this year.
