Veja Mate takes big steps
54 of the 67 XXL monopiles delivered by EEW to 402MW project
EEW has delivered 54 of the 67 XXL monopiles for the 402MW Veja Mate offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
The monopiles, which are each 84.5 metres long and have a diameter of 7.8 metres, have been transported from EEW’s factory in Rostock on to barges using Scheuerle self-propelled modular transporters (SPMT) by Buss Ports Logistics.
The Buss-owned barges have then transported the XXL monopiles to the project’s base port in Eemshaven in the Netherlands.
Three monopiles are loaded each time on to the barge using a roll on/roll off procedure.
EEW are using 144 intercombi SPE axle lines to move the monopiles from the welding and paint shop to the storage area at Rostock, where 48 SPMT axle lines load them on to the barge.
A further 48 axle lines unload the units in Eemshaven.
