Van Oord among companies to increase crane capacity for offshore wind jobs

Huisman has won a series of orders to supply cranes to offshore wind installation companies.

The lifting specialist said it would supply cranes to Van Oord, OOS International and Boskalis as part of €300m of new orders.

Huisman is to deliver a 1600 metric tonne “leg encircling” crane to Van Oord to replace the existing kit on the company’s jack-up installation vessel Aeolus (pictured).

It will be delivered and installed in Q1 2018.

The company said it will also supply two sets of 2200mt mast cranes to OOS International for renewables jobs in 2019 and a 3300mt mast crane to Boskalis at the end of 2017.

Other orders include BigLift Shipping and Allseas. The cranes will be built The Netherlands, Czech Republic and China.
