Andritz tidal turbine sets sail
Installation to kick off soon at MeyGen project off Scotland
The second Andritz Hammerfest Hydro 1.5MW tidal turbine to be installed at Atlantis Resources’ 6MW MeyGen Phase 1A project in Scotland has left the German manufacturer’s Ravensberg factory.
The HS1000 is device is one of three such turbines to be deployed at the four-turbine site in the Pentland Firth. The other turbine is the Lockheed Martin-designed AR1500.
Meanwhile, turbine foundations are lined up at Global Energy Group’s Nigg marshalling yard in Caithness, waiting for the installation at the MeyGen site.
Geosea, part of the DEME Group that recently bought a stake in Atlantis' SPV Tidal Power Scotland, will install all heavy turbine foundation structures and some of the turbines for MeyGen Phase 1A using its jack-up vessel MV Neptune.
