17 wind, solar and biogas projects win in country's first renewables auction

Argentina has awarded support to 1.1GW of projects under its first auction for renewable energy and has announced a second tender this year.
The 17 selected projects comprise 708MW of wind capacity, 400MW of solar PV and 1MW of biogas, the energy ministry said.

A total of 123 of bids with almost 6.4GW were submitted under the first round of the country´s so-called RenovAr programme to boost renewables.
Another auction this year will award an additional 400MW of wind and 200MW of solar PV to projects that didn’t secure support in the first round, the ministry said.
Developers will be able to submit improved bids by 11 November.
