Dunmaglass stands tall
Last GE 2.85MW turbine installed at 94MW project in Scotland
SSE has installed the last of 33 GE 2.85MW turbines at the 94MW Dunmaglass wind farm, which is located 700 metres above sea to the south of Inverness.
The project, on the Dunmaglass Estate, is SSE’s highest wind farm.
SSE said three of the turbines are already exporting electricity to the National Grid.
“The number of operational turbines will increase over the coming weeks as the final commissioning and testing phase of the project is carried out,” the company said.
The wind farm is expected to be fully operational by next spring, SSE added.
Dunmaglass project manager Jamie Meneely said: “At this altitude, there has been a lot of weather related challenges, but we got through them safely and it’s great to see all the turbines finally in position."
