HiDef produced the ornithological impact chapter for the environmental assessment for Hexicon’s Dounreay Trì floating wind demonstration project off the north coast of Scotland.

The company also worked with SMRU, who produced the marine mammal impact assessment chapter.

The chapters build on the delivery of ultra-high-resolution video marine mammal and bird surveys across the Dounreay Trì site between January 2015 and December 2015.

The application for a licence to construct and operate the project was submitted to the Scottish government in October, HiDef said.

The Dounreay Trì project, which is scheduled to be in operation by summer 2018, will consist of a semi-submersible platform fitted with two wind turbines generators with total capacity of between 8MW and 12MW.
