Swedish tidal energy developer Minesto has chosen UK outfit Green Marine to supply the wing for its commercial-scale Deep Green kite demonstration project.
The company said the wing will be 12 metres in length and will be 3.3 metres across the centre.
It added that the wing will have “basically the same hydrodynamic shape and properties" as a scale-model wing, which it took delivery of in November.
The wing will be made from composite material, with inner beams in carbon fibre and an outer shell in fiberglass, the company said.
The unit will also be fitted with sensors to measure current velocity, kite speed and level of depth, Minesto said.
The Deep Green device is scheduled to be deployed off Anglesey's Holyhead by the autumn.
