ALE lifts Siemens in Hull
75-metre turbine blade displayed as part of City of Culture programme
Heavy lift specialist ALE has transported a 75-metre Siemens wind turbine blade through the streets of Hull as part of City of Culture programme.
The company used a self-propelled modular transporter to move the blade three-and-a-half miles from Siemens’ production facility to the city’s Queen Victoria Square, where it will remain on display until 18 March.
It added that the blade (pictured) has been mounted on specially-constructed supports that allow double-decker buses to pass under its tip.
ALE has a four-year crane framework agreement with Siemens for the supply and deployment of cranes, specialised transport equipment and personnel at the new offshore wind facilities in Hull.
