Ecotricity proves big in Japan
Subsidiary sells over £1m worth of small windmills to Asian country
Ecotricity subsidiary Britwind has sold more than £1m worth of small windmills to Japan.
The company has shipped 130 small 5kW wind turbines to Japan since it was set up in November 2014.
A further 30 windmills are set to be dispatched by the end of March for an order totalling more than £1.3m, Ecotricity said.
The shipment will include the first of Britwind’s new H15 15kW windmills, which has an average height of 25 metres and is available in two versions to optimise high or low wind speed sites, the company said.
Ecotricity founder Dale Vince said: “The Japanese government is backing renewable energy and has created a real opportunity for wind power.”
