California developer Infinity Renewables has signed a power purchase agreement for up to 200MW of wind capacity with the Missouri Joint Municipal Electric Utility Commission.

The commission will buy electricity from the 400MW Iron Star wind farm under development in Ford County, western Kansas.

Electricity will be delivered through the Grain Belt Express Clean Line HVDC power link that Clean Line Energy Partners is building to supply wind energy from Kansas to neighbouring states.

Infinity said the long-term offtake agreement is the first for Iron Star, a wind scheme that will reach about 4GW.

The company has developed more than 1.2GW of renewable energy projects in the US.
