ESB/Coriolis win Kirk blessing
24MW wind farm in South Ayrshire consented on appeal
ESB and Coriolis have been granted planning permission on appeal for the eight-turbine Kirk Hill wind farm in southwest Scotland.
Holyrood officials issued the all clear for the project near Kirkoswald, where hardware of up to 3MW is planned and top power would be 24MW.
South Ayrshire Council rejected the plans in March last year on the grounds of landscape, visual and cumulative impacts.
“Whilst some significant environmental effects would arise these must be balanced alongside the benefits of development,” said the appeal reporter.
“I find the advantages of this development would considerably outweigh its adverse effects,” he added.
