Orkney’s European Marine Energy Centre is to appoint a non-executive director to strengthen its board into the next phase of development.

The appointment will be for a duration of three years starting from 1 July.

EMEC said it will diversify into related areas of technology development and application including storage and power networks.

The test centre seeks applications from individuals with a proven track record in an appropriate field of engineering or R&D commercialisation.

EMEC said it preferred candidates with “a good existing network reaching into both industry and academia and have operated at senior positions in their respective organisations”.

The closing date for applications is 14 April.
