Xcel unveils 800MW Mid-West plan
Three wind farms to be built in Minnesota and North and South Dakota

Xcel Energy has announced details of three new wind farms totalling 800MW in Minnesota and North and South Dakota.
The projects include the 600MW Crowned Ridge wind farm in Codington, Deuel and Grant counties in South Dakota.
Xcel will own 300MW of the project on build own transfer basis and purchase the other 300MW from the owner, which is a subsidiary of NextEra Energy.
The other two projects are the 100MW Lake Benton wind farm in Pipestone county in Minnesota, which is also being developed by a subsidiary of NextEra Energy, and the 100MW Clean Energy 1 facility in North Dakota, being developed by Allete Clean Energy.
The new wind farms are in addition to four self-build projects proposed in October last year totalling 750MW, Xcel said.
