Mainstream wins Neart CfD battle
Tribunal overturns contract termination for 450MW Scottish offshore project
Mainstream Renewable Power has won an appeal against the Low Carbon Contract Company's decision to terminate the CfD for the 450MW Neart na Gaoithe offshore wind farm off Scotland.
In a joint statement, LCCC and Mainstream said: “The arbitral tribunal has made its decision in NnG’s favour under the dispute resolution procedure set out in the CfD.”
NnG was awarded a CfD under the first allocation round in 2014 but the counterparty issued a termination notice on 29 March 2016.
Mainstream appealed the decision, with the challenge adjudicated by an arbitration tribunal.
The wind farm is one of three Scottish offshore projects that had consent overturned by Edinburgh’s Court of Session last year over bird impacts.
The outcome of an appeal by the developers and the Scottish Government is expected in the summer.
