DCNS deepens Indonesia ties
French tidal developer signs letter of intent with PT AIR
DCNS Energies has signed a letter of intent with local marine developer PT AIR to create a roadmap for engineering, industrial development and commercial ramp-up of a tidal industry in Indonesia.
The French company has been working with PT AIR over the last two years to assess the most suitable sites for the development of tidal energy projects in Indonesia.
PT AIR is focused on marine renewables including the manufacture of tidal turbine products for use in Indonesia and throughout Southeast Asia.
As part of the framework of this agreement, DCNS Energies and PT AIR will combine their complementary skills and capabilities to analyze and assess the commercial and economic conditions required to build a tidal energy industry.
DCNS chief executive Hervé Guillou said: “Today’s signing is a further step in our cooperation that will allow us to structure our organizations and industrial plans for the creation of a tidal industry in the country, with a high level of local manufacturing content”.
PT AIR director Panji Adhikumuro Soeharto added: “Our ambition is to build a local tidal industry with economic and social benefits for Indonesia.”
