EDF calls time on Longpark 2
Seven-turbine extension in Scottish Borders was headed for inquiry
EDF Energy Renewables has pulled the plug on its planned 14MW Longpark 2 wind farm in the Scottish Borders.
The utility developer said it has “decided not to progress” the extension near Stow and has officially withdrawn its Section 36 application, as first reported exclusively in subscriber-only newsletter reNEWS.
The MOD recently withdrew an objection based on potential impacts on RAF Spadeadam across the border in England.
Longpark 2 was nevertheless headed for public inquiry following concerns raised by local authority officials. Ministers would have taken any final decision.
The original project features 19 Senvion MM82 2MW machines and has been up and running since 2009.
