Turkey readies 1GW wind tender
Bids from developers will be invited on 27 July
Turkey will launch a tender for 1GW worth of new onshore wind capacity on 27 July, according to local media outlets.
The country had around 6.1GW of installed wind power capacity at the end of 2016.
"We completed our preparations for the tender specifications and it will soon be published on the Official Gazette," energy minister Berat Albayrak said, according to reports.
The plan comes after the government completed a tender for 1GW of solar capacity for the Konya-Karapinar Renewable Energy Resources Area Project in central Turkey, won by a consortium comprising local outfit Kalyon and South Korea's Hanwha Group.
