Nautricity deploys tidal turbine
Cormat device installed at Orkney's European Marine Energy Centre
Nautricity has installed its 500kW Cormat tidal turbine at Orkney’s European Marine Energy Centre.
Chief executive Cameron Johnstone said the Glasgow developer has successfully concluded installation operations.
Nautricity hired Aberdeen’s First Marine Solutions for the installation job at berth 3 at EMEC’s Fall of Warness grid-connected test site using Norwegian vessel Olympic Challenger.
The Glasgow developer’s seabed-mounted device featuring a rotating turbine with two rotors stands on gravity-based foundations.
The turbine is due to be tested at EMEC for up to 18 months.
