Lloyd’s backs Dong in US
Survey support provided at Bay State and Ocean Wind developments
Lloyd’s Register is overseeing geophysical and hydrographic surveys for the Dong Energy-led Bay State and Ocean Wind offshore wind farm developments in the US.
The third-party oversight is to “help ensure confidence in the data acquired from (the) wind farm sites and seabed route surveys”, Lloyd’s said.
Lloyd’s subsidiary SGC Engineering supported Dong on the evaluation phase of the Bay State project with its offshore site and export cable route geophysical and hydrographic surveys.
The Danish developer has also awarded Lloyd’s a second contract to support further offshore survey work at Bay State in addition to the initial survey work needed in the Ocean Wind site.
The work for both is planned for this month.
Lloyd’s Register geoscience manager Michael Cousins said: “We are delighted to continue our long-standing relationship with Dong Energy and to support its significant new wind farm projects off the eastern seaboard of America.”
