Waves4Power fires up Norway kit
Swedish developer generating power from wave device
Swedish developer Waves4Power has delivered power for the Norwegian grid from its 250kW WaveEL device redeployed off Runde island.
The Waves4Power system comprises the WaveEL buoy, a connection hub and custom-designed marine cables from the buoy to the hub and from the hub to shore.
The cable from the hub to shore is 3km long.
The marine operations were planned, supervised and carried out by BlueOrbis and Olympic Shipping.
Waves4Power was redeployed last month after initial installation in February 2016.
The company said the full-scale demonstration installation is the first step towards commercial serial production slated for the Stryvo Group-owned Fiskaholmen shipyard in Norway’s Sunnmore region.
