US awards $7.5m marine funds
Columbia Power Technologies and Verdant Power each bag $3.75m
The US Department of Energy (DoE) has awarded $7.5m in R&D funding to Columbia Power Technologies and Verdant Power.
The DoE’s Water Power Technology Office gave $3.75m to Virginia wave developer Columbia Power Technologies to demonstrate a streamlined installation and recovery process for deploying a floating device.
New York City’s Verdant Power received $3.75m to demonstrate its TriFrame foundation designed to deploy three tidal turbines together as a single system.
Verdant plans to deploy a full-scale TriFrame equipped with three fifth generation KHPS turbines at its Roosevelt Island project in New York City’s East River.
