Enel Green Power Hellas has started construction of the 154MW Kafireas wind farm in Greece.

The €300m project, which is located on the island of Evia in the municipality of Karistos, is expected to start commercial operations in the first quarter of 2019.

It will be supported by a 20-year power purchase agreement with the Hellenic Electricity Market Operator Lagie.

Kafireas will be connected to the mainline via an 150kV interconnection link comprising overhead, submarine and underground cables.

Enel Green Power head Antonio Cammisecra said: “The start of construction of Kafireas marks a new step for Enel’s presence in Greece, where we have a decade-long experience in the renewables sector.”

Enel Green Power Hellas already operates two wind farms in the municipality of Karistos, the 7.5 MW Iliolousti 1 and the 9MW Iliolousti 2 projects.
