SSE has commenced commercial operations from its 18.8MW Slieve Divena 2 wind farm in Northern Ireland.
The County Tyrone project features Enercon E-92 turbines near Ballygawley that were installed earlier in the year.
SSE said the site will power 16,500 homes every year and offset 24,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.
Project manager Pat Tierney said the milestone is a “credit” to the Slieve Divena 2 team.
“We are delighted that the construction of Slieve Divena 2 has been safely completed and the wind farm is now fully operational,” he said.
“This wind farm will help power more homes and businesses with clean, green energy, and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. Alongside the positive environmental impacts, the construction of the wind farm has brought economic benefit to the local area, through jobs and supply chain opportunities.”
