Hutchinson fabricates root and tip blade frames for V164 machines
Merseyside company Hutchinson Engineering has produced seven sets of root and tip blade frames for the MHI Vestas V164 wind turbine.
The 25-tonne frames will be used to stack blades for transportation and were fabricated at Hutchinson's Widnes plant.
The company then sent the parts to its new quayside facility at Liverpool's Garston Dock for shot blasting and painting before loading them aboard the MV Ingeborg for transportation to Denmark late last week.
“This project is the first of many larger fabrications for our clients, this is now our fourth order from MHI Vestas and largest to date,” said Hutchinson managing director Dean Drinkwater.
