Turbines tall at Clyde 2
Global Wind Service installs all 54 Siemens machines at 173MW extension
Global Wind Service (GWS) has installed all of the 54 Siemens turbines at SSE’s 173MW Clyde 2 wind farm in southwest Scotland.
GWS said it was hired by SSE to do pre-assembly work, main installation, mechanical and electrical completion and cold commissioning.
It added that last GWS technicians will finish at the site at the end of September.
GWS lead site manager Michael Bialaska said: “The weather has been challenging at times, we have faced a lot of strong winds, with speeds up to 35 metres per second.”
The Clyde wind complex now consists of 206 wind turbines with a capacity of approximately 520MW, GWS said.
