Engie has officially opened the 10MW Cairnborrow wind farm in Huntly in Scotland.
The ceremony was attended by Scotland’s Minister for Business, Innovation and Energy Paul Wheelhouse, local councillors and members of the Huntly District Development Trust.
Construction of the five-turbine project started in August 2015. The wind farm became fully operational in January.
Engie will also provide either a guaranteed annual payment of £5000 for each MW of installed generation capacity or 10% of the profits – whichever is higher – to a community benefit fund.
Wheelhouse said: “I am delighted to officially open Engie’s first onshore wind farm in Scotland.”
