Aberdeen flush for port upgrade
Scottish Enterprise provides £11.7m to £350m expansion plans
Scottish Enterprise is to contribute £11.7m towards Aberdeen Harbour’s £350m expansion, which will provide enhanced facilities that could be utilised for the renewables sector.
The project, which will support the creation of 2300 jobs by 2026, is scheduled to be completed in 2020.
Scottish Enterprise’s support comes in addition to a £175m loan from the European Investment Bank and £11m from Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Councils.
Scottish Enterprise director of energy Maggie McGinlay said: “The Aberdeen Harbour expansion project is strategically important to the growth of Scotland’s economy.
“A recent impact assessment study confirms the project will not only help sustain growth in the oil and gas sector, but will also help to maximise opportunities from the growing cruise tourism and renewables sectors.”
