Infrastructure investment group Foresight has snapped up a consented 10MW battery storage project in Essex in the UK.
Foresight acquired the Nevendon project from Gridserve and Aura Power just one month after its acquisition of the 35MW Port of Tyne storage project in north-east England from RES.
Construction work at Nevendon, which holds an Enhanced Frequency Response contract from National Grid, will start immediately with full commissioning in the first quarter of next year.
Belectric UK will be the EPC contractor for the project.
“The investment in the Nevendon battery storage project is a further example ... of Foresight’s contribution to the transition from a fossil fuel dependent centralised network to a decentralised low emissions system,” said Foresight investment manager Katherine Vinnicombe.
Foresight holds a 1GW portfolio of energy assets across solar, gas and waste generation projects.
