Enel sparks 90MW in Brazil
45-turbine Cristalândia wind farm starts commercial operations in Bahia
Enel Green Power Brasil Participações has started commercial operations at its 90MW Cristalândia wind farm in Brazil.
The 45-turbine project is located in the municipalities of Brumado, Rio de Contas and Dom Basilio in the north east state of Bahia.
Cristalândia will generate about 350 gigawatt hours of electricity a year.
Enel invested about $190m in the wind farm, which has 20-year power purchase agreements with a pool of Brazilian electricity distribution companies.
Enel country manager in Brazil Carlo Zorzoli said: “In Bahia, where Cristalândia wind farm is located, we manage as much as 1.3GW of renewable capacity both in operation and under construction, leveraging on the state’s huge wealth of green energy sources.”
