Dutch outfit Heerema Fabrication Group has won a procurement and construction contract from Siemens for the offshore transformer module for EnBW’s 112MW Albatros wind farm in the German North Sea.

Construction of the 1000-tonne transformer module is due to start in the first quarter of 2018 at Heerema's yard in Zwijndrecht in the Netherlands.

Sail away for the 116MW unit is scheduled for the first quarter 2019, Heerema said

Heerema Fabrication Group chief executive Koos-Jan van Brouwershaven said: “We are very proud that we have been able to secure this contract, which will be the start of many more to come.”
