AWEA maps US wind
Interactive tool shows projects and manufacturing facilities across the country
The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) has released an online map showing every utility-scale wind farm in the US.
The map also includes markers for the more than 500 wind-related manufacturing facilities in the country.
A time-lapse feature on the interactive tool shows the progress of wind power development across the US starting in 1981, AWEA said.
AWEA deputy director of industry data and analysis John Hensley said: “Wind power has become a vital part of the US economy, drawing billions of dollars in capital investment to rural communities each year and supporting over 100,000 US jobs across all 50 states.
“I’m pleased this new map tool helps Americans visualize how world-class US wind resources are being put to work in all parts of the county.”
