US company A.K. Suda has started developing an installation vessel for the country's offshore wind industry.

The Louisiana-based company said the first of its JG6000P vessels will be capable of carrying up to four 8MW wind turbines, with sufficient crane capacity for turbine installation.

The vessel will comply with the Jones Act, it said.

"With the experience gained in the oil and gas industry and a family of highly efficient liftboat designs under our belt, it was an obvious step for us to take to enter the burgeoning offshore wind market," A.K. Suda managing director Ajay Suda said.
