Germans flex prototype six-pack
Windtestfeld-Nord completion to coincide with Husum Wind 2017
Windtestfeld-Nord is poised to complete a test project in northern Germany that will feature six wind turbine prototypes.
Five turbines have already been erected and the last, a Senvion machine, will be installed by 7 September, the non-profit company said.
The test site is located at the parish of Südermarsch near the Danish border, where strong winds mean the 1,000 hours required for certification can be clocked up in about four months, rather than the usual nine.
Completion of the site has been scheduled to occur in time for the HUSUM Wind 2017 exhibition, which runs from 12 to 15 September.
