Public eyes on Hornsea 3
Third public consultation to start next week for 2.4GW project
The third public consultation will kick off next week for Dong Energy’s 2.4GW Hornsea 3 offshore wind farm, which will be located off the Norfolk coast.
Seven events will be held in Norfolk at which the company will present findings of initial surveys and assessments in the preliminary environmental information report (PEIR).
The PEIR report also forms the basis of the formal statutory consultation which is open for people to comment on until 20 September, Dong said.
It contains a refined 200-metre cable route, which will eventually be narrowed to 80 metres following further consultation.
The PEIR also includes proposed locations for both the onshore substation, which will be just south of Norwich near Swardeston and the onshore HVAC booster station near Little Barningham.
The first event will be at Swardeston village hall on 4 September between 3pm and 7pm, followed by a meeting the next day at King’s Centre in Norwich from 4pm to 7.30pm.
Corpusty and Saxthorpe village hall will host the third consultation on 6 September between 4pm and 8pm, with the Weybourne village hall and Reepham town hall hosting the following two meeting on 7 and 8 September, respectively, from 3.30pm to 7.30pm.
The sixth event will be at Hall for All in Weston Longville on 12 September and the final consultation at Holt community centre the following day. The last two meetings are from 4pm to 7.30pm.
Hornsea 3 project development manager Stuart Livesey said: “We're looking forward to returning to Norfolk next week and hearing people's view on our updated plans.
“We know there is a balance between early engagement, when plans are fluid enough to be influenced, and presenting proposals that are clear and defined enough to allow people to comment effectively, which is why we've held three series of events over the course of a year.
“We wish to be clear that there is still time to comment and potentially influence the proposal, so if people have specific questions or concerns they should get in touch and if they can, come and speak to myself or a member of the Hornsea 3 team at one of the events.”
