Aberdeen Bay offers local benefits
Vattenfall commits £150,000 a year over lifetime of 92.4MW wind farm
Vattenfall is to invest £150,000 (€163,000) a year in a fund to help community groups close to its 92.4MW Aberdeen Bay offshore wind farm off north-east coast of Scotland.
The developer has committed to the annual payment over the 20-year lifetime of the project, meaning a total pot of up to £3m.
Aberdeen project director Adam Ezzamel said: “How a lasting legacy will secure best outcomes from the Aberdeen Bay fund will in large part be determined by those who are to benefit. That conversation with key local interests will start soon so that community investments can start next year.”
The offshore wind project will feature 11 MHI Vestas 8.4MW V164 turbines.
