Quercus plans 600MW in Iran
Solar project will take three years to build and be delivered in 100MW phases
UK renewables investor Quercus has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Energy in Iran to build and operate a 600MW solar farm in the Middle Eastern country.
The work is expected to take three years, with the project coming online in 100MW phases every six months, Quercus said.
The project will be the company’s first outside Europe.
Quercus will set up a specialist team based in Dubai and Tehran to help deliver the project, including a head of engineering, financial controller, project co-ordinator, planning manager and procurement staff.
Quercus chief executive Diego Biasi said: “As Iran opens for business, we are delighted to be taking a leading role in building the country’s renewable energy infrastructure at such an early stage of its development.”
