Swedish marine developer Waves4Energy has inaugurated its grid-connected device off the Norwegian island of Runde.
King Harald V of Norway cut the ribbon on the WaveEL buoy project at a ceremony in Fosnavag in the west of the country.
The king was taken out to the 35-metre long buoy by the Norwegian Sea Rescue Society.
The 250kW device has been generating power since June for the Norwegian grid.
Waves4Power recently launched the Green Power EcoSystem initiative, which aims to market wave power for fish farms.
