Brest preps for offshore drive
French port undergoing €220m upgrade supported by Blue Water Shipping
The Port of Brest in France has started upgrading its quay in order to offer services to the offshore wind market.
The work will cover a 400,000 square-metre site and includes a new heavy load quay to accommodate large components for the offshore renewables industry.
The upgrade is scheduled for completion in 2020.
The €220m project is being supported by Blue Water Shipping, which is acting as port agents for several coasters arriving in Brest with sheet piles.
Blue Water Brest marine and renewables manager Marianne Girardin said: “This upgrade will hopefully attract large players from the offshore industry.”
