UK outfit builds substation and electrical connections for 15MW storage project
Power engineering specialist Smith Brothers was hired by contractor Metka-EGN for the job of connections provider for the 15MW Lockleaze battery storage project in Bristol in the UK.
The company carried out high voltage electrical connections and substation construction for the project, which was commissioned by Hazel Capital in partnership with Noriker Power and developed by Aura Power.
The work involved the design, project management and delivery of the 33kV infrastructural connection to the battery storage facility, including 80 metres of trenching works to install three single core 33kV 185mm squared cables.
The Smith Brothers team was also responsible for the civil design and construction of the 33kV glass reinforced plastic substation, as well as the design, supply, installation and commissioning of HV internal equipment.
