Tsetsii spins in Mongolia
50MW wind farm featuring Vestas hardware reaches commercial operation
Clean Energy Asia has started commercial operations at the 50MW Tsetsii wind farm in Mongolia.
The project, which is located in the Gobi desert, consists of 25 Vestas V90 turbines.
Clean Energy Asia is a joint venture between Mongolia’s Newcom Group and Japanese outfit Softbank Energy.
SoftBank Group chairman and chief executive Masayoshi Son said: “ I’m very pleased that the commercial launch of the Tsetsii wind farm marks the first step for the SoftBank Group to establish a renewable energy business in Mongolia under the Asia Super Grid project, in addition to India and Japan.”
Newcom Group chairman and CEO Enkhbold Nyamjav said: “We believe the successful completion of our project has increased the confidence of foreign investors in Mongolia and proven that Mongolia is a country where things can be done.”
Wood Group’s clean energy business was owner’s engineer during construction.
