OX2 has commissioned and handed over the 42.4MW Ajos wind farm in Finland to its owner IKEA.

The repowered project consists of Siemens Gamesa hardware – eight SWT-130 3.3MW turbines offshore and five SWT-113 3.2MW machines onshore.

They replace 10 older turbines, which were installed on artificial islands offshore.

IKEA Finland signed a purchase agreement with OX2 in December 2015 for 13 wind turbines in Kemi, northern Finland.

All the terms of the agreement have now been met and IKEA Finland has taken ownership, OX2 said.

Ajos will continue to be managed and operated by OX2, it added.

IKEA Finland sustainability manager Tiina Suvanto said: “The renewal of the Kemi Ajos wind farm has been an important project for us on our path to gain energy independence.”
