Samsung Renewable Energy and Pattern Energy Group have completed the 100MW Belle River wind farm in Ontario.
Belle River consists of 40 Siemens Gamesa 3.2MW turbines.
The towers were made at CS Wind’s facility in Windsor using Ontario steel, while the 120 blades were manufactured in Tillsonburg.
The project supported more than 235 workers during construction, with 12 permanent positions created now the wind farm is operational.
It has a 20-year power purchase agreement with the Independent Electricity System Operator.
Belle River will generate $2.5m over 20 years in property taxes and landowner lease royalties, while a further $6m has been committed to locals as part of a long-term community benefit program.
Samsung C&T vice president Eskay Lee said: “Samsung is proud to complete our fifth wind project under our green energy investment agreement with the government of Ontario.”
