Oregon ponders Capital idea
350MW Nolin Hills wind farm would cover 18,170 hectares in Umatilla county
A subsidiary of Capital Power Corp has submitted a notice of intent to Oregon regulators outlining its intention to apply for a site certificate to build the 350MW Nolin Hills wind farm.
Under the state’s law, a developer must have a certificate from Oregon’s Energy Facility Siting Council in order to construct and operate a wind farm.
Capital Power said in the notice that it has yet to decide on the precise size, number and lay out of the turbines for the project, which will be located on 18,170 hectares near Echo and Pendleton in Umatilla county.
The project would also require a 29km, 230kV transmission line, the notice said.
A public comment period is open until 6 November and Capital Power expects to submit the application by February 2018.
