Swedish duo Himec Solutions and Varvsudden Heavy Industry Park of Oresund are working together to develop a foundation production facility for the offshore wind business.
Varvsudden has appointed Himec as technical designer to cover business development and design of the facility.
The 125,000 square-metre site is located close to Malmo in Sweden and the Danish capital Copenhagen.
Varvsudden said the design consists of two options – one for large jacket foundations and the other for large monopolies and transition pieces.
Capacity is expected to be over 180,000 tonnes a year, it added.
Varvsudden managing director Tony Hansen said: “We have high ambitions and with Himec Solutions wind energy team we have been able to create two realistic offshore wind foundation production designs, down to the smallest detail out of many possible, of an area of approximately 125,000 square metres.”
