Marine on the march
Ocean Energy Europe 2017 kicks off today in Nantes, France
The ocean energy sector is marching towards industrialisation, despite a challenging political climate, according to Ocean Energy Europe (OEE) chief executive Rémi Gruet.
Gruet (pictured) made the remarks at the opening the Ocean Energy Europe 2017 Conference and Exhibition, which kicked off in Nantes, France today.
“Pilot farms, which hit the water in 2016, have delivered valuable performance data and learnings in 2017. Building on this, the industry is constructing the world’s first ocean energy factories in Europe, clearing the way to volume scale-up and cost reductions,” he said.
“The industry is opening global export markets, and the first ocean energy orders are now being placed from Japan, Indonesia, Philippines and Canada,” concluded Gruet.
OEE 2017 takes place on 25 and 26 October in La Cité in Nantes, France.
